Choose your trip in Slovenia
How to choose your trip to Slovenia?
Slovenia fits in a pocket handkerchief, barely 20,000 km², which makes it possible to combine mountains, caves, vineyards and coastline in a single journey. For a first visit, we recommend planning 8 to 12 days to combine Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Triglav National Park and the Adriatic coast without rushing. Travelers who want to venture into wine-producing Styria and the Soča Valley will find what they're looking for in our itineraries of 8 to 12 days, with a slower pace and two-night stays.
Different types of trips
Our travelers fall roughly into three categories. Lovers of baroque heritage, castles and historic cities like Ljubljana, Ptuj or Škofja Loka head towards our cultural trips. Those who come for glacial lakes, Vintgar Gorge and the peaks of the Julian Alps prefer our nature itineraries. Finally, Slovenia is a land of ancient vineyards, Karst cured meats and revisited alpine cuisine: our gastronomic trips explore the cellars of the Vipava Valley and farms of Prekmurje.
What is the best season?
High season runs from mid-May to end of September, with temperatures of 22 to 28 °C in the plains and cool evenings at altitude. June and September remain our favorite months: the light is beautiful, Triglav trails are clear from mid-June onwards, and the coast at Piran is not yet crowded. July-August concentrate visitor numbers on Bled and Ljubljana, so book early. Autumn, from October to mid-November, offers forest colors and harvest time. Winter, from December to March, is suited to skiing at Kranjska Gora and Ljubljana's Christmas markets.
