Easy Access
Slovenia is situated in Central Europe between Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary. It lies just a few hours' drive from Venice or Vienna. The country is easily accessible from all neighbouring countries thanks to excellent road and rail connections, and benefits from daily air links with many European cities. As a coastal nation, Slovenia is also reachable by boat.
By Car
The vast majority of motorists enter Slovenia via the motorways, which are also the most straightforward way to travel within the country. Driving on Slovenian roads is simple thanks to clear and practical signage throughout. Some local roads are narrow and winding, but they make for pleasant, far from monotonous drives. To use the motorways, you must purchase a vignette.
By Plane
Slovenia's main international airport, Jože Pučnik Ljubljana, offers daily flights to numerous European cities and is served by two budget airlines: EasyJet and Wizz Air, which operate services to London and Brussels. You can fly to one of the foreign airports near Slovenia and reach the country by coach, train or rental car.
By Bus
Buses serve Slovenia from many cities across Europe. Within Slovenia, most towns and rural villages are connected by bus routes. On local roads, drivers can stop for you at designated stops in each village. You can purchase bus tickets directly from the driver on board. At major bus stations, you can buy tickets for specific dates.
